July 2026
It is hard to believe that it is already September, fall is right around the corner which means lots of pumpkins and college football. Hopefully we will have some wonderful fall weather we can all enjoy. As we enter September, we are encouraging each of you to pray for God to grow His church here at Lone Oak. We know that it is God that grows His church. We read in 1st Corinthians 3:5-9 “5 What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. 9 For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.” As we read what Paul is saying it gives a good idea on not only how we should pray for church growth but also how it is ultimately God who is causing the Growth.
We should not just ask God to send us new families; He is more then capable of doing so. We need to be praying for God to guide us and to show us what we as individuals should be doing. Paul tells the reader that some will plant and some water. We should also pray for God to give all of us wisdom in what we do and to show us what we need to be doing as a church to reach out to those who are searching. We need to ask God to not only show us what we are to do but also guide and direct myself and the board as we look at what we must be doing so that we can see souls being won over to God. Acts 2:42-47 says “42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. 43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”
August 2026
It is already August and summer is beginning to wind down kids and parents are preparing for School. It still seems odd to me that we are going to school in early too mid-August, I’m still used too late August to early September being time to go back to school. Yet I am excited about what all happened in July even though it seemed like a slow month we had some exciting things going on at Lone Oak. We had our first of what I hope to be many more to come day of prayer, where we opened the church for people to come and pray for each other, the community and the church. We also put in for a $10,000 grant for the building project, please be praying for us to receive that grant. We also had a wonderful cookout and concert which was so wonderful as we continue to create opportunities to invite friends and family to church on other days than just Sunday, with the hope that they will come on Sunday.
As we enter August we are asking that for the month of August we as a church pray for the community around us and the events that we sponsor for the community. As we pray for the community let us pray for God to continue a mighty work in the community around the church and in the one that you live in. May God use us to reach the lost, let us pray for the young families around to notice we are here and that we love them and God loves them. We do many events around the year so that community may come into the church and get to know us pray that God uses those and guides us in the planning of these events. We are reminded of what Jermiah told the Israelites after they had been carried off to Babylon; “But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” (Jermiah 29:7)
